Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for a general audience including but not limited to Ruckus sales personnel, system engineers, VARs, RUCKUS Partners, network managers, support personnel, and company employees desiring a high-level understanding of all RUCKUS products.
Purpose:
This self-paced, web-based training course provides comprehensive training on the RUCKUS ZoneDirector Controller using the version 10.0 release software. Features and functions covered in this course include hardware architecture, boot up processes, Setup Wizard configuration software upgrades, and basic and advanced WLAN and Access Point Configuration.
Course Objectives:
- Learn how to correctly power up a ZoneDirector Controller
- Configure the Setup Wizard
- Describe how to upgrade the ZoneDirector software
- Become familiar with the Dashboard and GUI
- Describe how to set system configurations, alarms, WIPS, certificates and location services
- Become familiar with access point policies, limited ZoneDirector Discovery, Management VLANs, and MAPs and how to enable/disable mesh
- Describe how to configure radio settings using the services menu
- Understand Access Point Registration and how to find information on this process from various Ruckus Websites
- Describe how to use the Access Point GUI and CLI to login and discover information on a specific access point
- Describe how APs get there IP addresses via DHCP, DHCP Option 43 and DNS and DNS Quarry
- Become familiar with configuring the settings of AP policies using the approval of join request menus, configuring Tunnel MTU values and the AP joining and approval process.
- Describe how to configuring APs on the ZD Dashboard Map, and monitor their location, signatures and rogue APs
- Become familiar with the dashboard monitor AP ICON function on how to obtain AP system information, RF Information, Configure, SpeedFlex, Network Connectivity, Restart, Join Another Controller and additional action ICONs of spectrum analysis and application performance.
- Describe issues to consider before creating WLANS
- Learn how to create a WLAN using the General Options of Types
- Describe Run and Solo Run modes and demonstrate how to create autonomous WLANs.
- Learn how to configure WLAN client isolation and configure a whitelist.
- Learn how to use WLAN advanced options such as the Accounting Server, Access Control, Application Recognition and Control, Call Admission Control, Rate and SSID Limiting, Multicast Filter, VLAN Pooling, and Access VLAN
- Learn how to configured WLAN advanced, such as Hide SSID, Tunnel Mode, background scanning, load balancing, band balancing, maximum clients settings, and DHCP option 82 functions.
- Describe how to enable WLAN SSID hiding and what happens when the “Hide SSID option” has been enabled and how to connect a client to a hidden SSID.
